Company history
It is July 1, 1934 - an important day in the life of engineer Ludwig Löser as on this day he starts his own business: The Löser Maschinenfabrik is founded in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany.
Ludwig Löser has made an invention that raises high expectations in him: "ELBA", the world's first transportable belt grinding machine. He believes in his abilities to capture the market with methodical, high class workmanship. Success eventually concedes that he is right. Only two years later, he extends his business.
For the first time, the company name "Löser" appears on the list of an international trade fair, i.e. in Leipzig in the year 1936. From then on, an average of 300 grinding machines are produced on a monthly basis. Seven years later, approximately 40,000 machines are in use in Germany and abroad!
With the outbreak of the war comes the collapse for the business. The company lies in ruins. It is literally out of nothing that Ludwig Löser manages a new beginning, this time in Speyer. A nondescript workshop is all that is available. However, it is here that the production of the "ELBA" portable belt grinding machine starts again.
The Swiss business associate Hand Heid produces the new idea of the "GNOM" dowel machine. It does not take long until this machine is produced in large quantities. Back then, a brochure read: "The GNOM dowel machine is the only machine with which cross-grooved dowels based on a square can be produced. The machine allows for a dowel diameter of 6 - 20 mm."
And again, Ludwig Löser's principles i.e. hard work and expertise prove of value. Soon the business needs to be expanded, however, it has reached its limits for spatial expansion.
In 1953, a modern and spaciously planned business is built at the new address, Wormser Landstraße in Speyer. It includes a large factory hall and modern office spaces with state-of-the-art equipment that come up to the highest standards as far as light, heat and hygiene are concerned.
New series of belt grinding machines, dowel machines and parting machines are produced. Within a few years only, the plant needs to be extended by several buildings.
In the year 1963, the company is turned into a "Kommanditgesellschaft", i.e. a limited partnership and is now named "Ludwig Löser KG". Ludwig's sons Waldemar and Robert also get engaged in the company.
The premises in Wormser Landstraße meet the business requirements for just about 20 years. Then their expandability has reached their limits. A large areal in the middle of the forest in the outskirts of Speyer can be purchased. Here a new company is built in 1973, and again it comes up to state-of-the-art standards. Litte by little, a vibrant industrial park develops all around the Löser company.
An enormous increase in capacity is achieved with new fabrication halls in Speyer but also through decentralized fabrication as a result of cooperations with other companies.
With its built-up area of 7,000 square metres on an overall premises of 25,000 square metres, the new business in Speyer offers excellent conditions for production and assembly.
The Löser product range is continuously extended. It soon runs the gamut from the successful dowel and pole grinding machines to machines and machine lines for universal grinding. However, the focus is shifted from wood machining to the machining of metals and other materials.
It is with pride that the company's management can announce: "Löser supplies its products to every corner of the world." Löser machines can be found on all five continents.
After the company founder retired from business, Waldemar Löser succeeds his father in company management. He directs the business which is now named "Waldemar Löser KG" and dynamically leads it through the serious crises the metal industry has to face at the beginning of the 90s. The good work done during the past decades and the good relationship to the satisfied customers now payed off well. However, his brother Robert goes his own way, leaves the company and makes business in France instead.
By now, the third generation has taken charge of business management:
Thomas Löser is the business manager of Waldemar Löser GmbH & Co. KG. that focuses on the areas of portable belt grinding machine and abrasive belt grinding machines, smaller circular grinding machines and polishing motors.
Michael Löser is the business manager of Löser GmbH and responsible for the areas of circular grinding machines, surface grinding machines, roller grinding machines and special machines.
